Razzle Dazzle

A day at the theater is always a day well spent.  Chicago rolled into Fort Worth for a brief showing, and thus I stepped into my heels and braved the omniscient 35 traffic in order to see one of my favorite musicals.  Spring has seemingly fully sprung here in Texas (although you never really know) and the sun is shinning and the breeze is blowing.  I always find theaters on the chillier side and this time thankfully remembered to bring a light jacket.  I paired my pale pink boucle jacket with a simple white dress that has beading at the waist and nude pumps to keep the look classy and simple.  The pink clutch brought out the color of my jacket and added an element of fun!

Tell me in the comments below what your favorite musical is!

This Little Piggy Went to Mexico

Finally! I get to share my favorite post from the whole trip!

In one of my earlier posts from Cancun I mentioned how I like to buy accessories as souvenirs.  When I saw this adorable hand woven purse I just about squealed with excitement (pun intended). Fashion is supposed to be fun, and anyone who tells you otherwise is just plain wrong.  When you look at whose thriving in the fashion industry right now Kate Spade and Topshop, places that encourage you to make fashion a little playful are at the top of the list. High Fashion doesn't have to mean all black, it doesn't have to mean taking pictures and never smiling at the camera.  Fashion is what brings your clothing to life, there's no reason it look so dead all the time.  So smile, buy a pig purse, jump on the bed, because life is short and fashion is fun.

April Inspiration

Vacation is such a wonderful place to reap in the inspiration.  While driving to Chichen Itza we past through all these wonderful small Maya villages.  Snapping pictures as we drove by I happened to come across this church and immediately was touched by its colors.  Up against the blue sky, the church popped for me, I was left wanting to translate my feelings for this church into an outfit, so I linked below a couple ideas on how I plan on doing so this month.

Here's hoping for more inspiration in the months to come..

High Tide and High Waisted

Lets be honest, there are two things every girl hates shopping for jeans, and bathing suits.  Thankfully the two are spread into different seasons so we don't have to tackle them on the same mall trip.  Whoever invented the bikini was either tall and thin, or a male fashion designer out of touch with a women's insecurities (most likely the latter).

As a teenager so often you fall into the mindset of "this is what everyone else is wearing so I have to wear it too" and although I'd long gotten away from that mindset with clothes, my struggle continued in swimwear.  There was no reason I needed to be wearing a itsy bitsy teeny weeny bikini that I was constantly worried I was spilling out of!  Everyone has a different body, everyone is insecure about different things, so why is it everyone feels the need to wear the exact same swimsuits?  I found my balance in an underwire top and high waisted bottoms, don't be afraid to find yours!

Beach Bum

Can we just all take a moment to appreciate how pretty the beach is around Sunset?

Now that we've all appreciated my lovely backgrounds beauty we can talk about the clothes!  My top is an old American Eagle find, it hasn't always fallen off the shoulder quite so much, it's slouched with time which has only deepened my affection for it.  Off the shoulder blouses always make me think of Mexico in particular so I had to dig this gem out of the back of my closet.  The skirt I've posted about not one, but two times!  Thank you Aunt Darcy!  Purchased from Madewell I swear this skirt pairs with everything in all seasons; plus it has pockets which make any dress or skirt greater in my opinion!  The shoes I purchased while in Mexico at the Flea Market!  They're handmade and just the cutest things.  I try to buy sensible souvenirs whenever I travel, particularly accessories!  Every time you wear them afterwards you have a little reminder about your wonderful trip!

Sporty Spice

Oh how I left my heart in Mexico... Having just returned from my Senior Trip to Cancun I am refreshed, relaxed, but of course most noticeably sunburned.  When I say noticeably please know I'm not exaggerating, you could turn finding out what parts of my body I forgot to put sunscreen on into a Where's Waldo type game.

Aside from vacation often leaving me sunburned, I find it also always boosts my outfit inspiration.  When I go on vacation I feel like I get to almost play a new character based on location, and Mexico left me swooning over dresses.

This was actually my look from the last night of the trip, and I've been drooling over it in my closet since I purchased it a couple of months ago!  The dress is from the Altuzarra for Target collection, and if I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times; shopping designer collections at Target once they go on sale never disappoints!!  This dress which gives of the perfect sporty vibe was scored for only 12 dollars!  Paired with a high pony and white Huaraches (which I also scored for around $12, thank you DSW clearance) you have a simple but chic outfit.  Since the dress left me yearning for the tennis courts, I settled for table tennis, the next best thing.  Enjoy!
